Waiting to Exhale: Harnessing the Power of the Respiratory Cycle to Improve Radiotherapy and Assess Resulting Toxicities

By Dr. Hania Al-Hallaq

February 28th, 4:00pm–5:00pm

1325 Health Sciences Learning Center

Imaging protocols and radiation treatments have harnessed the respiratory cycle to optimize image quality and reduce radiation-induced normal tissue toxicities. The role of surface-guided radiotherapy to implement deep-inspiration breath-hold treatments for breast cancer patients, which can reduce organ-at-risk toxicities, will be presented. Next, the application of radiomics to analyze radiation-induced lung toxicities in CT scans taken at breath hold will be described.
