Wisconsin Human Proteomics Symposium Aug 10, 2018
Hosted at the BioPharmaceutical Technology Center on Promega Campus
The Human Proteomics Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the BioPharmaceutical Technology Center Institute are pleased to host this year’s Wisconsin Human Proteomics Symposium on Friday, August 10, 2018, with the theme: Advancing Proteomics in Human Disease. Speakers will present a range of topics in cutting-edge proteomics technology developments for understanding, diagnosis and treatment of human diseases, and applications to human diseases will be discussed. Registration is still open and reduced fees are available for students and post-doctoral researchers. Note that the symposium is at the Promega campus at 5445 East Cheryl Parkway in south Madison/Fitchburg. |

UW-Madison Advanced Computing Initiative is hosting a Data Carpentry Workshop on Monday, August 27 and Tuesday, August 28 from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. Data Carpentry workshops are for any researcher who has data they want to analyze, and no prior computational experience is required. Data Carpentry lessons are domain specific, building on learners’ existing knowledge to enable them to quickly apply skills learned to their own research. Registration is free but space is limited. UW-Madison Advanced Computing Initiative is hosting a Software Carpentry Workshop on Wednesday, August 29 and Thursday, August 30 from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. Software Carpentry workshops aim to help researchers get their work done in less time and with less pain by teaching them basic research computing skills. This hands-on workshop will cover basic concepts and tools, including program design, version control, data management, and task automation. Registration is free but space is limited. The Office of Campus Research Cores invites UW–Madison research core and shared facility managers to a core manager summit to discuss common concerns and opportunities on Wednesday, October 17, from 9:00 am – 11:00 am (with additional networking time) at Tripp Hall in Memorial Union. Summit Goals The program will include small-group discussions focused on topics – a tentative list is here but additional topics can be proposed during registration and at the event: Setting Rates, marketing and Outreach, Reservations and Scheduling, Staff Professional Development, Managing Research Data, Working with External Customers, Starting and Ending Services.
