HRPP Newsletter – November 2025

Survey Reminder

PIs and points of contact listed on any ARROW application should have received a link to an IRB Efficiency Project survey in their email.  Please complete this survey at your earliest convenience as we highly value your feedback.  If you have not received an email (be sure to check your “other emails”) with the survey link, please email IRBdirector@hsirb.wisc.edu and we will resend.

IRB for Beginners Workshop

The UW-Madison IRBs office is hosting an IRB for Beginners Workshop (online via Zoom) on Wednesday, 12/3/25 at 10:00 am (CST)  (Register here).

This workshop offers an overview of what an IRB is, considerations for IRB review and submission, and resources you can consult for more information.

Please feel free to forward this on to anyone who you think may be interested in attending.

For registration questions, please contact Emily Putman-Buehler (emily.putman@wisc.edu).

Research Community Trainings

The IRB Office is currently planning next year's research community trainings. Please take a couple minutes to share your feedback on the topics you'd most like to see us cover. The survey can be accessed here.

RELIANT Reminder

Since 2018, UW is required to enter into reliance agreements with other universities when our employees collaborate with their employees on federally funded studies.  We anticipate that in 2026 this requirement will also apply to all FDA regulated research (stay tuned!).  As a reminder, if you are collaborating with individuals who are employees of another institution on federally funded research, you must contact RELIANT (irbreliance@wisc.edu).  Regardless of funding, do not list individuals employed by other institutions (except UW Health, UW Medical Foundation, Morgridge, and Madison VA) as study team personnel on the Study Team page in ARROW, even if they have a UW appointment, without contacting RELIANT first.
