Co-developing research agendas with older community members: Discussions with members of the Boards of Older Adult Advisors

The Boards of Older Adult Advisors (BOAAs) are now scheduling their 2026 meetings with researchers!
The BOAAs are two standing community advisory boards of older residents from low-resourced communities. They provide guidance throughout the research process, including on study design, recruiting strategies and materials, data analysis, and dissemination.
One BOAA includes residents of rural southwest Wisconsin, while the other includes Madison residents. Madison BOAA members predominantly identify as Black or multiracial and include people with paid and family caregiving experience, as well as community leaders. Members of the Rural BOAA identify as white and include farmers, military veterans, and people with healthcare experience. Both groups include people living with disabilities and people from communities at higher risk of health disparities. BOAA members share a passion for improving older adults’ health and well-being.
