Conflict of Interest policy revised
The COI policy (UW-4001) that covers managing conflicts of interest in research has been revised.
See the updated policy here.
These updates are in response to feedback from UW’s review of the policy. The edits do not change the policy intent but streamline it and more clearly define its scope.
Summary of high-level changes:
- Updates the policy Rationale/Purpose – with a clear emphasis on mitigating the potential for financial conflicts of interest to bias research.
- Revises the definition of “significant financial interest (SFI)” to include examples of things that typically aren’t SFIs.
- Describes how the COI policy relates to other policies such as those related to research involving human subjects and conflicts of commitment.
- Clarifies COI program responsibilities.
