ARROW Upgrade Now Live
The ARROW upgrade to Click 10 is now live. More information about the changes in this upgrade, including a recorded presentation done by the IRB Office, can be found here. Additionally, the IRB Office will be holding Office Hours for the research community regarding the upgrade on Thursday, August 22nd from 12-1pm. The Zoom link for Office Hours can be found here. If you have any questions about the upgrade, please call 608-263-2362 or email AsktheIRB@hsirb.wisc.edu.
New Meriter Submission Guidance
As part of our efforts to streamline the IRB review process when UW researchers involve UnityPoint Meriter in their projects, a new Research with Meriter page was added to the Submission Guidance section of the IRB website.
This new page and its tabs describe steps to help UW researchers navigate the IRB review process when UW research involves Meriter. The new guidance also includes a Meriter Engagement Worksheet which should be used once you know that your project involving Meriter does not qualify for an exemption. As always, if you have questions involving research with Meriter (or other multi-site research), email IRBReliance@wisc.edu.
Toolkit Updates
The HRPP Toolkit is updated every six months (interim changes are also made for critical issues). These updates are made following feedback collected from researchers, HRPP staff, and in response to regulatory changes.
At the end of July, updates to various toolkit documents were published. As always, tracked versions of documents that underwent revision are stored in the HRPP Toolkit Archive (June 2024 archive folder can be found here). Most notably during this round of revisions are changes to HRP-502 – TEMPLATE CONSENT DOCUMENT. A lot of work was done to reorganize and simplify the data sharing sections of the consent template.
Responding to modifications requested by the full board
When the Institutional Review Board (IRB) requests modifications, please refrain from making additional changes that haven’t been specifically requested as part of your response. At this stage of the review process, the IRB has determined that your study is approvable with the exceptions noted in the applications and/or materials. Making additional modifications at this time may result in delays to study approval. If you have questions about minor or typographical changes to study documents, reach out to your assigned IRB Analyst before making any changes.
