September is World Alzheimer’s Month and UW–Madison is hosting a community conversation.
2026 Fall Community Conversation: How Food Shapes Brain Health as We Age

Join the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) in person or online for this annual community educational event, which will share the latest science on how your diet supports brain health. Learn how to navigate confusing nutrition claims and take away simple, brain-healthy eating tips you can start using at your next meal. Free and open to everyone.
How to join in person or online
- The in-person event will take place at the Middleton Performing Arts Center and includes free refreshments and a resource fair from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., followed by the live program in the auditorium from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
- The online option will feature the program only, streamed on YouTube from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Central Time (CT)
Lisa Barnes, PhD, of the Rush Alzheimer’s Disease Center in Chicago, will deliver the keynote address and serve as a guest panelist. Art Walaszek, MD, will moderate a panel discussion featuring Barnes; Barb Bendlin, PhD, of the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC); Beth Olson, PhD, of UW–Madison’s Department of Food and Nutritional Sciences; and Elena Terry, Executive Chef of Wild Bearies and Tall Grass at the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (MMoCA).
