Replacement of Critical Ion Chromatography Infrastructure for the Analysis of Soluble Ions to Support Battery Development and Environmental Processes Research

Description:
The new ion chromatography (IC) resources in the Water Science and Engineering Laboratory (WSEL) will update existing resources and add an additional IC for much needed capacity. The technique has wide applicability in fields such as pharmaceutical development, environmental science and compliance and materials science. Additionally, the core facility IC resources have a particular niche on the UW–Madison campus in the field of electrochemistry and are often utilized by both on campus researchers and industrial researchers in the study of novel battery materials.

The Core for Advanced Water Analysis strives to provide high-quality research training, to provide access to cutting edge technology used to answer research questions and to support users during their research endeavors related to identification and quantification of elements and compounds in water and other environmental samples (e.g., sediment, fish, plants).
