Interim Director of Research Security and Export Control Announced

Stephanie LeRoy headshotStephanie LeRoy has been named Interim Director of Research Security and Export Control effective Feb. 2. LeRoy has been the Compliance Manager in the Office of Research Policy and Integrity within the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research (OVCR).

The Export Control Office works with UW–Madison faculty, researchers, staff and students to ensure compliance with the U.S. Export Control laws and regulations.

LeRoy has worked in the OVCR for 11 years as a Conflict of Interest (COI) Specialist, then COI Compliance Manager taking on program management matters related to outside activities reporting and other conflict of interest issues as well as assisting the Research Integrity Officer with research integrity matters.

“I’m excited to continuing serving OVCR and researchers in this new role,” says LeRoy. “Taking on the role of Interim Director of Research Security Director and working in export control aligns with my experience in protecting the integrity of research at UW–Madison while enabling global collaboration. It’s about safeguarding knowledge, ensuring compliance, and empowering discovery without compromise.”
