VCR Brzezinska chosen for APLU Executive Committee and URP Board

(Photo by / UW–Madison)Vice Chancellor for Research Dorota Brzezinska has been elected to Executive Committee members for the Association of Public & Land Grant Universities (APLU) Class of 2027 to serve for a 3-year term, starting this month.

Founded in 1887, APLU is North America’s oldest higher education association with membership consisting of nearly 250 public research universities, land-grant institutions, state university systems, and affiliated organizations spanning across all 50 states, the District of Columbia, six U.S. territories, Canada and Mexico.

The association and its members collectively focus on: increasing access, equity, completion, and workforce readiness; promoting pathbreaking scientific research; and bolstering economic and community engagement. Drawing on the powerful collective action of its members, APLU’s advocacy arm helps shape federal policy that maximizes the positive impact of public and land-grant universities.

Annually, APLU member campuses enroll 5.3 million undergraduates and 1.4 million graduate students, award 1.4 million degrees, employ 1.3 million faculty and staff, and conduct $61 billion in university-based research.

Brzezinska is also one of two new University Research Park Board of Trustees members. The other new member appointed to the 11-member board isAimee Davis, vice president for marketing, communications, and customer operations for the Alliant Energy Corporation

University Research Park, Inc., a nonprofit supporting organization of the University of Wisconsin–Madison. URP’s mission is to develop real estate to benefit UW–Madison, help commercialize technology, science, research, and education stemming from UW–Madison, and nurture an innovation ecosystem that reinforces interactions between UW–Madison and the private sector. URP manages a portfolio of 1.2 million square feet, 17 ground leases, and controls 200 acres of raw land for future development.
