Wisconsin Energy Institute joins Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education recently welcomed the Wisconsin Energy Institute to its cadre of research centers. WEI is the collaborative home of energy research, education, and industry partnerships on campus, as well as the administrative home of the U.S. Department of Energy-funded Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center, which has just been renewed for a third five-year period. WEI supports more than 150 energy researchers with expertise in three critical areas of energy research: transportation and fuels, electricity systems, and sustainability and society.

Strategically located between UW–Madison’s College of Engineering and the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, the energy-efficient Wisconsin Energy Institute building at 1552 University Avenue, houses five floors of state-of-the-art lab space, including a high bay lab, where scientists from across disciplines conduct energy research. Tim Donohue is WEI’s interim director.
