Replacement of an Aging In-Ground Irrigation System to Support Research at the O.J. Noer Facility

Description:
Turfgrass covers an estimated 40 million acres (164,000 km2), or about 2% of the area of the contiguous United States. This land use decision has major implications for environmental quality and ecosystem health. The University of Wisconsin–Madison is considered a global leader in this field, largely because of its unique research core: the O.J. Noer Turfgrass Research and Education Facility. This award enables replacement of the in-ground irrigation infrastructure, ensuring that the O.J. Noer Turfgrass Research and Education Facility remains fully functional, competitive, and sustainable as a research core.

O.J. Noer Turfgrass Research and Education Facility has 16 acres of turfgrass research. Facility users compare different turfgrass varieties, mowing and fertilization practices along with pest management.
