PFAS Working Group Launch Event: Collaboration Workshop on September 16
PFAS research, policy, and engagement efforts span UW–Madison, from laboratories and field sites to classrooms and communities. This breadth is a tremendous strength, but it can also make it difficult to identify collaborators, coordinate efforts, and respond quickly to new funding opportunities. The newly established UW-Madison PFAS Working Group was formed to help address that challenge by improving visibility, coordination, and collaboration around PFAS work.
On Sept. 16, the group will host its first campus‑wide event: an interactive PFAS Collaboration Workshop for UW faculty and research staff focused on connection, shared learning, and shaping what this working group should become.
The workshop is designed to be participatory and forward‑looking. Attendees will hear brief overviews of the current PFAS funding landscape, including federal, state, and community‑engaged opportunities, then spend most of the session in structured conversations with colleagues from across disciplines. Through facilitated networking and small-group discussions, participants will identify shared interests and help shape a PFAS Working Group that meets the needs of the campus community.

UW–Madison Faculty, researchers, and staff interested in PFAS across research, monitoring, policy, health, engineering, communication, or community engagement are encouraged to attend.

1th Annual Badger Challenge! Badger Challenge — Sept. 27
Join us on Sunday, Sept. 27 for the 11th Annual Badger Challenge! Badger Challenge is a signature Wisconsin walking, running, and biking event which energizes the community around the mission of fundraising for cancer research and patient treatment at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. There is a distance for everyone! Bike rides range from 5k to 100 Miles. Or run/walk 5k or the half marathon.
The University of Wisconsin research environment brings together scientists and clinicians from a wide variety of disciplines to help solve complex problems affecting patient care, and the Badger Challenge accelerates the rate at which collaboration and discovery occurs.
Badger Challenge’s overall mission is simple – to increase cure rates and reduce the burden of cancer for future generations. 100% of all participant-raised funds go directly to cancer research. Join us and help write the story that ends cancer.
