Upgrading the Wisconsin Administration Data Core with Wisconsin Hospital Association Data

Description:

The Wisconsin Administrative Data Core (WADC) will be upgraded to include data from the Wisconsin Hospital Association (WHA), which will be linked to other systems in the WADC. The addition of these data as a campus resource and their linkage to existing WADC data will facilitate new and novel research in health and social policy. The WADC currently captures health care claims data for Medicaid recipients; the addition of the WHA will expand research opportunities to the entire population of Wisconsin receiving health care. The Institute for Research on Poverty (IRP) will pilot the use and linkage of these data within an existing project focused on the opioid crisis in Wisconsin.

IRP’s mission is to advance understanding of the causes and consequences of poverty and inequality by producing rigorous research, training scholars, engaging with policymakers and practitioners and widely disseminating evidence. The WADC is one of the richest collections of administrative data in the United States.
