Undergraduate return to face-to-face human subjects research

Dear students, faculty, and staff:

On September 9, we suspended involvement of undergraduate students in face-to-face human subjects research until September 25 to help reduce COVID-19 transmission. We are now (as of September 24) lifting this suspension in light of the Chancellor’s message to allow undergraduate student participation in instruction and other essential activities.

Undergraduate students under instruction to quarantine or isolate will still need to complete these before returning to research activities. All students with symptoms of COVID-19 should be tested. Testing can be scheduled at the on-campus sites for all students through MyUHS (information available here: https://www.uhs.wisc.edu/medical/testing/.)

This change does not require that study teams modify their IRB applications.

If you have questions concerning return of undergraduate students to face to face human subjects research interactions, please email the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education at vcrge@research.wisc.edu.

Sincerely,
