Radiation Safety

The UW-Madison Office of Radiation Safety (ORS) assists faculty and staff in observing safe laboratory practices when working with radioactive materials or radiation producing devices. This includes the lawful compliance with many state and federal regulatory agencies, including the Department of Health Services (DHS) and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), among others. The Executive Radiation Safety Committee and six affiliated committees on radiation-use are established to provide a diverse yet focused method of institutional oversight for the entire Radiation Safety Program.
