Building Excellence in Advanced Water Analysis
This project establishes the Core Facility for Advanced Water Analysis to address campus needs for research instrumentation, while providing additional opportunities for collaboration among water researchers at the UW–Madison.
The UW–Madison has a rich history of water research and has played a critical role in defining the fields of limnology and water chemistry. However, society is still faced with numerous water quality challenges both in Wisconsin and across the globe, many of which are poorly understood and require sensitive analytical instruments to study.
The Core Facility for Advanced Water Analysis will acquire state-of-the-art instrumentation to provide a suite of instrumentation for analysis of inorganic and organic constituents in water samples. It also establishes a centralized access point for instrumentation used in water characterization, and provides training for students, research professionals and faculty in use of the various instruments. The Core Facility will be administered by the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and be based in the Water Science and Engineering Laboratory, with additional instrumentation in Engineering Hall.
