Project Description

The mission of the Edward Mallinckrodt, Jr. Foundation is to support early stage biomedical investigators engaged in basic and translational research that has the potential to make fundamental advances in biomedical science.

Amount per Award: $75,000 per year
Duration of Award: 3 Years
Number of Awards:  5 – 7

Eligibility

This program is for tenure-track faculty members in their first to fourth year who hold M.D. and/or Ph.D. degrees.  It also provides the start-up support necessary to position the project for independent research funding such as an NIH R01 grant.  Applicants must not currently hold a substantial independent research award, such as an NIH R01 grant or its equivalent in scope and funding from other sources.

Please note: Each department may submit materials for one tenure-track faculty member to the Mallinckrodt Foundation Grant internal competition. Applications must be submitted to OVCR through the faculty member’s home department.

UW-Madison is allowed to submit 1 proposal.

To submit your application, please email a single PDF to grants@research.wisc.edu:
Please include the following information:

  • Cover page with name, contact information, and title of the project
  • Biosketch (5 page NIH format)
  • Lay project summary (no more than 1-2 pages)
  • Letter of support from the Department Chair or Dean (no more than 2 pages)
  • Research project summary including Objectives/Aims (no more than 5 pages)
