Applications accepted through May 26 for Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Research Administration Officer

With Kim Moreland’s recent retirement as Director of Research and Sponsored Programs, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research has launched a search for the next Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Research Administration Officer, who will direct RSP. The deadline to apply is 11:55 p.m. on May 26.

“This position is critical to the success of the UW–Madison research enterprise,” says Cynthia Czajkowski, interim vice chancellor for research. “Research and Sponsored Programs (RSP) manages about 10,000 active awards valued at nearly $4 billion. RSP manages pre-award and post-award activities for a large, complex, and diverse portfolio of grants and contracts. The director also provides leadership to the university on research administration and establishes policies and procedures related to the administration of research.”

The search committee is being led by Mark Rickenbach, interim associate vice chancellor for research policy and integrity and professor of forest and wildlife ecology. Other committee members include:

David Rothamer, professor of mechanical engineering, associate dean for research, College of Engineering

John Varda, assistant dean for research services, College of Letters and Science

Arash Bashirullah, professor, associate dean for research and graduate education, School of Pharmacy executive director, Lachman Institute

Jennifer Kuhr, subaward specialist, Research and Sponsored Programs, Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research

Kendra Maier, University legal counsel, Office of Legal Affairs

Mallory Musolf, associate director of the Office of Training Grant Support, School of Medicine and Public Health

The Director of RSP will oversee a team of 99 employees that works with both faculty and external sponsors to manage and ensure compliance with proposals, awards, contracts and agreements including clinical trials and fee for service, invoicing, reporting, audits, closeout and more. In addition, RSP is responsible for preparing the University’s indirect cost proposal.
