Research Policy Advisory Committee (RPAC)

The Research Policy Advisory Committee (RPAC) serves as an advisory body for the development and implementation of campus-wide research policy at UW–Madison. The impressive size of the UW–Madison research enterprise contributes to the decentralization of many research activities and services. The role of the RPAC is to propose standard policies to guide the campus in as it responds to changes in regulations and to assist in the cultivation of successful working relationships with industry. The Vice Chancellor for Research and other campus authorities consider the adoption of RPAC recommendations as university research policy.

The RPAC meets monthly and is comprised of six associate deans for research, the director of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, and a representative from Legal Services. The Associate Vice Chancellor for Research Policy (VCRGE) serves as the chairperson. The Office of Research Policy provides support for RPAC in carrying out its charge.
